Anxiety Within the Moment
There are moments when the mind moves ahead of the day.
It doesn’t seem far.
Just enough to leave the present moment.
A thought forms.
What if.
This could happen.
It doesn’t always feel urgent.
Sometimes it stays low.
A quiet pressure.
A soft, underlying hum.
Other times it rises.
A heaviness.
An always-on-edge feeling.
Chest tightens.
Breathing becomes shallow.
Nothing external has changed.
And still, something has.
The mind continues.
Returning to what has already happened.
Moving toward what has not.
Trying to place something that doesn’t fully settle.
There isn’t always a clear reason.
Sometimes it’s something unresolved.
Sometimes it’s pressure held around a moment in the future.
Sometimes it’s a voice that has stayed longer than it was meant to.
And through it,
The mind keeps moving.
There are moments, though, when something else becomes available.
Not a solution.
Not necessarily an answer.
Just a small notice.
The thought is here.
The moment is here.
And they are not the same.
Nothing has to be forced.
Nothing has to be removed.
The day is still here.
The breath is still moving.
And in that quiet recognition,
Even briefly,
There can be a return.
